almost forgot

Whoops! I have been so busy lately (all good stuff) that I almost forgot to type up a blog about this past Wednesday's rehearsal.

I'm losing my touch?!

Anyway, yes my trio had rehearsal a few days ago and worked on another new song. This one is definitely a challenging piece but it's so much fun to play. Bassist Brian Smith even told me "Dude, your stuff is f---n' HARD!" I am too close to my work to tell but can agree that it is not three chord rock (nothing wrong with that!)

I will readily admit that while I always write what feels good, and never force anything, I wanted something that resembled Led Zeppelin's "Achilles Last Stand". Mike Sabatini (drummer) said the first riff reminded him of UFO's "Lights Out" (very cool but wasn't thinking that). I also hear touches of Heart's "Barracuda" and Scorpions' "Lovedrive". Yes it GALLOPS like those songs, and am sure people will hear it and think IRON MAIDEN. That's fine with me. As long as people dig the song, great! 

We have three more to go, not including a solo acoustic piece I am working on. It's been a long time since I threw an acoustic track, thinking maybe 2011 with the GO BERZERK! album. I never really had anything but recently some nice melodies came to me. So there you have it!

And I have said this before: if all goes well, we might start recording in May and release the cd in September.
