SONGS OF JAN. 2023

i'm a couple days late, but here's my favorite songs i listened to in January! make sure to click on the song titles so you can listen yourself!

1. TYPE O NEGATIVE - CHRISTAIN WOMAN (goth rock): starting off strong! this is from the classic Bloody Kisses, which is my favorite Type O album. i recently got their logo tattooed on me to fill out my left arm sleeve - i regret nothing. they're easily my favorite goth band as of recent.

2. BAUHAUS - ROSEGARDEN OF FUNERAL SORES (post-punk, goth rock): another classic goth band, also on my favorite Bauhaus album, In The Flat Field! this song in particular is my favorite just because it is so very,,,,, post-punk. it reminds me of my punk roots in Sex Pistols, and i'll never complain about music that reminds me of them.

3. MALICE MIZER - ILLUMINATI (visual kei): while the new year has rolled around, old habits don't die easily, or whatever they say. Malice Mizer has been a favorite for a long time, and in the earlier parts of the month, i started listening to them on repeat again! JILUKA almost made it on this list, just because of my visual kei addiction re-emerging.

4. PLAYBOI CARTI - VAMP ANTHEM (hip-hop): one of these is just not like the other! lol! this is just a fun song i listen to in between my goth hits, really. it's just a really fun song and the beat is interesting.

5. GHOST - SQUARE HAMMER (heavy metal): Ghost has been a favorite for years now (ever since 2018?) and Square Hammer is one of the earliest songs i listened to from them. it's a classssiiicc Ghost song! i recommend, if you don't listen to any other songs, listen to this one!

6. KING CRIMSON - 21ST CENTURY SCHIZOID MAN (progressive rock): IS THAT A JOJO REFERANCE? yes, but it's also a really interesting song. King Crimson, in general, is a super influential band, and while i don't listen to them as a regular fan, this song gets special treatment.

7. TYPE O NEGATIVE - SET ME ON FIRE (goth rock, psychedelic metal): ending this list on my favorite song this month, also on Bloody Kisses, i'm ending it on Set Me On Fire! this one is just a beautiful listen. it reminds me a lot of Ghost's album, Infestissumam, which has a "secret single" on a special edition of the album, which is called La Mantra Mori. Type O Negative in general shares a lot of similarities with Ghost, so, if you enjoy them, you should give the Bloody Kisses album a try!
