The Boys.

The Boys is by far my favorite show currently. I'm absolutely enamored by the writing which strikes an extremely fine balance of humor, action, suspense, and horror. It feels like each episode is a buildup to some dark, grim, horrible fate for all the characters and the world they live in. It's one of the only shows I've ever watched that managed to truly grab me and keep me going, and I couldn't be more happy about it.

The soundtrack is amazing too. It has a wide range of genres and moods present in its score, ranging from high octane and energetic music that pairs perfectly with the bloody, superpowered street fight style action, to these low, eerie pieces that call to mind some horrible predator slowly stalking its prey - ready to pounce at any moment in a crescendo of blood and viscera.

The social and political allegories are simple and easy to digest, yet still very effective in my opinion. I feel like that simplicity even adds to the horror of The Boys, because you can see so clearly the same narcissism, egotism, and sadism in the real world's elite that is so prevalent with superheroes.

Lastly, at least as far as made for TV effects go - it's got some pretty alright effects. They're not insanely real or anything, like I said it's made for television so it doesn't have the fx budget that a Marvel movie would or anything, but they do pretty good with what they have at their disposal. Couple that with amazing Choreography, wonderful camera work, and most of all the absolutely phenomenal performances by the actors (I'm most fond of Karl Urban's Billy Butcher and Laz Alonso's M.M. - they're both great on their own and play off of one another incredibly), and the show is absolutely dazzling. Well, dazzling in a bloody, violent, dark reflection of our own world sort of way...

So yeah, I really like the show lol.
