Dear Diary,

I am honestly creatively drained. I want to go back to when I draw things for fun but I cannot. I have to stick to my strengths but at times like these, they can be very hard to even get a hold of. I depict myself as a creature forced to “perform” and “be good” because I have to. But as usual I have nothing else to do but to go on with the show.

love,

momo♪

Your art is wonderful momo! The pencil shading looks very nice. Could see this as a book cover or band poster… and the expression is really well drawn :)
Having nothing else to do but go on is a sentiment I’d like to think I can relate to. I was thinking about my reasoning for my lack of artistic motivation this morning, and really the conclusion I came to was “Why not?”
Looking at artwork can make us feel all kinds of things. Fear, awe, melancholy, joy… it can even make us cry. When one draws, they are creating a piece of work that can directly communicate emotions or concepts straight to the viewer. In the same way songs can be appreciated over and over again, I think drawings have that same longevity. Looking at the process of drawing as the creation of a tool that can stimulate the brain in a specific way, or encapsulate a memory, motivated me a lot. Creating something simply because you want to see it, and share a feeling with others.
Anyway, beautiful work and I hope we can see more :D

thank u so much racc ! honestlyy,, hearing other people say they can relate deff makes me feel better. it reminds me that no matter what our current situation may be, we still go through p similar struggles; and at times like these we have nothing else to do but persist. imo life rlly is a constant loop of discouragement and persistence. And the comment about how art can also serve as somewhat of a time capsule rlly resonated with me; it perfectly encapsulated my relationship with art in general. thank u sm agaiinn !!

hi momo :)

absolutely stunning work!! i love everything about it - the framing, the shading, the posing... (you have such delicate linework!!)
i hope you can find this site to be a solace for your creative energy and that you feel refreshed soon.
i went through something similar - i could not stand to look at the empty pages, to look up at the calendar and see deadlines, to think back on my childhood and think "is it all gone? is my mind empty now? will i ever write again?" - the one thing that helped: allowing myself to be embarrassing and write or draw whatever came to mind for ten minutes everyday. even if you don't like it at first, keep them. by the end of the month you'll realize you have done so much!!
you can count on me. i'll be here cheering for you <3
