19/11/23 UPDATE - redid this blog!! the drawings are now from newest to oldest and i decided to remove some i dont really like anymore to make more space for newer drawings :) also had to reupload every single drawing to anther image hosting site... very tiring. changed the CSS of the blog to hopefully make it more readable?

Do you use layer filters for the shading?? If yes can you give me advice I've been trying to fix my digital shading and lighting

usually what i do is handpick the colors for shading, but in some cases (like my most recent piece for example) i use purple-ish tones in multiply to make more “”dramatic”” shadows to generate a bigger contrast. for lightning tho i pretty much always use a layer set to “Add” and play around a little with the opacity
if u don’t like how Add looks tho, “Color Dodge” looks AWESOME in certain color palettes but it might not always work. in the end it rlly depends on the colors u use in the drawing n ur personal style so the best advice i can give u is to experiment a lot!!
