Ok, back for another episode. This one is more goofy fun than the last one. This one focuses more on Parm (Sir Ebrum) and Memu (Lady Like).
It's time for the Parm and Memu centric episode. They're always a fun couple. It's their wedding anniversary. Parm is nervous because he's never given his wife a ring on their wedding day. He was so nervous that he ended up dropping the ring on their special day. Ever since then, he's been trying to get her a ring on their anniversary every year, but every time, something goes wrong. This year, Kirby accidentally stumbles onto the ring, tries to eat it, but then spits it out the window cause he didn't like the taste of it. This starts a chase throughout the town where people are either trying to swindle one another for it or in Dedede's case, getting a monster to steal it. All while Parm is trying to distract his wife while the others tried to get it back. The ending of the episode is very sweet though, cause the ring really wasn't all that important to Memu.
Fun episode with a weird monster in this one. Well, they're all weird, but in this episode, Kirby doesn't use any powers. Kirby doesn't even beat the monster. Dedede just throws it out of his castle. This is also one of the few episodes that actually involves the thief that you always see locked up inside the police station. I don't remember him having much of a role outside of this episode.
Most of the differences I noticed were translation related. The only cut I noticed was the part where Mabel laughs after swindling Escargoon and Noseman not saying his name. Well, he's not called Noseman in the English dub anyway, so it doesn't matter. I did notice that Kawasaki said he was serving sparkling water to the guests, but in fairness, he doesn't say what he was serving in the Japanese version. He just congratulates the couple and pops the cork.
Hands down the weirdest thing I noticed is that in the Japanese version, Bun (Tuff) was all excited about the big dinner and he's telling Kirby about all the great meals they've had. When Fumu asks Memu what they're having tonight, she says: "We never change where we eat, so it's Kawasaki's this year." The kids let out their collective groan. This part makes no sense when just seconds ago, Bun was talking about all the amazing meals they've had in the previous years. In the dub, she says "Well I suppose we'll go to Kawasaki's," instead. This slight change makes more sense since it doesn't contradict what Bun was saying earlier about the amazing meals they've had. I wonder if the issue is from the people who subtitled the Japanese version?
