before i continue: more wheels came in from auctions the other day, this time some SSR reverse mesh, in 7j +1 sizing. only a pair ofc bc it feels cheaper that way. maybe i'll find an identical pair one day, but who knows. i also don't know how i like these being the o n l y reverse lipped wheels i have but tbh, shrug.
shortly after the track day i went from the 15" track setup down to 13" with too narrow, too old tires. much closer to a stance setup but absolutely more slammed than anything else, especially with the recent addition of frame rails. the rail reinforcements scrape on almost nothing now. equal parts excellent! and fuck! oh god why!. tbh i'm really just repeating the setups i touched on briefly back in 2018-9. but this time things seem more prepared.

lengthy bc apparently idk how to summarize, just wordvomit.
we get pitted.mp4 and i start unloading, then get reminded to check in halfway through, so i do that, pick up my transponder, etc. finish unloading my tools, helmet, and misc stuff that normally occupies my cabin, and then it's final car prep:
- setting tire psi(29 in this case)
- checking oil, full
- brake fluid reservoir, good
- and coolant, i topped it off just a tiny bit to make me feel better
- making sure the lugnuts are torqued
- mounting the japanese plate
- putting on my door numbers. #69 was in fact available, so i was able to use the neat advan number placard printout piece.
jared's number's been 420, and noe went with 187 lol. nice all around. we're all in different run groups: me in beginner, noe in the group just above beginner, and jared i think in an intermediate group. the groups go in order of highest to lowest.
at some point there was the required driver's meeting for my group. i had some memory of Da Rules from last time but it was nice to be reminded of some stuff that was fuzzy from before; track exit etiquette, some of the flags, etc.
when it comes time for my first session, i make it to grid comfortably on time. "fast or slow?" ...slow. get motioned to park on the right. oh my god there's a stock 9th gen accord in this group what. oh my god 2 458's. oh my god a lotus exige. huh what eh?
the session itself was cool. outlap is zero passing under yellow conditions. i lost alot of familiarity with the layout bc i hadn't experienced it in any format in over 5 years. but i'm making my way around, mostly keeping my braking conservative and getting an idea of the line. being behind cars and keeping up is fun. point-bys are also nice. i manage a 1:39.6. sweet, already 10 or 12 seconds faster than last time. not as impressive as it sounds when i had r-comps front and all seasons rear previously. super bad time.
before the second session(currently like 11a), me and noe hit the diner near the entrance, conveniently by the pits for big willow, where there's a classic ford event going on. GT40's, repro daytonas and cobras, 60's mustang's, oh fuckin my. i think i even saw a galaxy ontrack.
second session itself was TERRIBLE. jared asked to ridealong, which, sure. but i missed pregrid completely(not related at all, i just slacked). rushed to get on and got on a hot track that was already in full swing. i think my second lap was probably clear, looking at the timing app afterward, but every other lap was so shit. faster cars were coming up behind me the whole time, have to point them by. lots of lifting, braking points felt bad, going wide felt worse. it was so stressful. total i only got in like 5 laps. and at the very end i went off at the bowl coming onto the back straight. lovely.
zipping it off here, part 3 soon. eh.
