Mums lost in space

Texture: Frozen feet on a January evening

I'm watching a TV show which uses the much criticised trope of 'mum is lost in space missing child'.

I like to consider myself a feminist but honest confession time? I like this trope. It's realistic. A mum with a 6 year old kid WOULD be lonely as hell missing her child.

My solution? Make the dads in space have b plots where they miss their kids too. 

Heck, even where the person doesn't have children or has grown up children: still have them miss their family. Obviously not everyone cos that would take up precious space travel time but at least for the main characters (MCs).

I know that if I went up to space tomorrow, I would miss my mum so much! :O Cos family is important. <3
