OOOOO YOU SHOULD DEFINITELY READ HEAVEN OFFICIAL'S BLESSING!! also referred to by its original chinese name, tian guan ci fu, or tgcf for short, it's by mo xiang tong xiu!! it's about this guy, xie lian, who, after having been banished from heaven twice already, ascends to become a god for a third time. when he gets up there everyone's like "you've got a fUCK TON OF DEBT" and so they send him on a quest to pay it off-- while on this quest, he runs into the most illustrious ghost king, the terror of the heavens, hua cheng. xie lian then goes on to complete more quests with hua cheng by his side and uncovers several dark secrets of the heavens, while we also get to learn about his own backstory and how he got to be the "scrap collecting god" rather than the darling of the heavens he was 800 years ago
the storytelling is hilarious but also heartbreaking, the tone is light and fun but becomes extremely deep when it needs to be. the characters are well developed, it's got a huge cast of characters and side characters so the fact that all of them are multi-faceted, interesting, and each have their own backstories and motivations is SO IMPRESSIVE. and each character is so amazing!! i found myself falling in love with each and every one of them. each arc is also SO GOOD, like the twists are so good and will break your heart every time. i will not lie the story is sad, but it has a happy ending, i'd say that each character gets the ending they deserve and it's so fulfilling. xie lian is such a fun main character as well, i absolutely adore how kind and sweet he seems and then BOOM he just kicks someones ass. i love him. more than anything it's also a romance as well!!! which i love romances not sure how keen you are on them, but the love story between xie lian and hua cheng,,,,,,,, hgnghdklfhgsdlgh i could cry about it literally all day they are so SWEET.
it's my special interest, i absolute ADORE it!!!! it's got 5 books in total, with english releases breaking it up into 8. if you can't get your hands on physical copies i have sources........... they're just online sites lol nothing sketchy. since it was originally published as a webnovel!!
