This was oringally meant to go as my blurb, but I really love music so I thought I ought to make a post instead. This isn't even me dissecting the lyrics or meanings.
This post was originally meant to be my blurb, but I am really invested in my music.I love all kinds of music, but I tend to fall near the more emo/alt style of things. I love going to concerts, and so far have seen Fall Out Boy and Panic! at the Disco live (rest in peace), as well I went to WWYT 2022 and saw a plethora of bands.
Top Albums
1. Wonderland by Forgive Durden
It has been my favorite album since June of 2022, and ranked 2nd place on my wrap. It was defeated by Be the Cowboy by Mitski, but I still love this album the most. All the songs are amazing, but spefically: Beware of the Jubjub Bird and Shun the Frumious Bandersnatch; Harry Frazee and the No No Nanette; I've Got a Witch Mad At Me and You Might Get Into Trouble; and Cue the Sun.
2. Folie a Deux by Fall Out Boy
Fall Out Boy is one of my favorite bands, and right now I'm saving up for when the tour is announced. I saw them in 2017 and it was one of the best experiences I've ever had. The lyrics on the album are some of my favorites, and it changed the chemistry in my brain the first time I heard it. It is one of the vinyls that stays on loop in my room. My favorite songs on this album are: Headfirst Slide into Cooperstown on a Bad Bet; 27; Tiffany Blews; The (Shipped) Gold Standard; W.A.M.S.; and West Coast Smoker.
3. The Slider by T.Rex
Okay, this one just changed the direction of the list. Released in 1972 I only found my love for this album and band due to a $2 vinyl from my local record store. It, along with Folie a Deux, stays on loop in my room. Although its a bit soft(?) than the other two I still love the groove the music holds. My favorite songs on this album are: Rabbit Fighter; Ballroom of Marsl Buick Mackane; and Baby Boomerang.
4.
Fallen by Evanescence
Back onto classic emo sounds, this album is amazing. It isn't the album on repeat in my room, but instead one of the first CDs I put in my car. My laments are getting short the further I get down on the list, but not much can be said. This album speaks for itself. My favorite songs on this album are: Everybody's fool; Haunted; Tourniquet; and Imaginary. Imaginary especially speaks to me, I wear out my voice anytime it comes on when I'm alone in the car.
And without further ado... my 5th favorite album is... a tie.5. Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge or A Fever You Can't Sweat Out
Both albums are perfection, but just because they're perfect doesn't mean I have to love them more than the others. Three Cheers is one of the albums always playing in my room, and I violently thrash around to all the songs. It is a musical masterpiece, and I love it to no end. On the other hand, A Fever You Can't Sweat Out is also beautiful, and it was a favorite of mine from the start. I can't choose between them.
Top Songs
1. Green Eyes Don't Lie by Envy on the Coast
If you asked me a few weeks ago the spot definitely would have been held by Private Eye by Alkaline Trio, and months ago? Beware of the Jubjub Bird. My number one song is always changing, but right now this song that is hardly younger than me takes the spot.
The shorter the skirt, the greater the fame
2. Mercy Me by Alkaline Trio
Speaking of Private Eye, it was my number one song last year. Alkaline Trio has an incredible consistency within their songs that makes me listen to them on repeat until I'm sick of them. And then a week later, the song is back on repeat.
Oh mercy me, god bless catastrophe
3. Greek God by Conan Gray
Just listen to the song... his vocals on this track are everything to me.
I know what you really want, a little more confidence
4. Moving In Place by Shauna Dean Cokeland
Her music captures a different kind of energy, and its so raw in emotion even though she took a year to refine it. She cares about her music, and it's so piercing right into my soul.
I'm a poser, you said it yourself. Don't expect me not to pose when the cameras come outChoosing my favorite songs is most definitely harder than albums... could probably list five more but i'll keep it short (for now)
5. Go or Go Ahead by Rufus Wainwright
It is a beautiful song with incredible vocals. It is the longest song on the list, up until the honorable mentions, which are next.
But oh Medusa, kiss me and crucify
Honorable Mentions All Too Well (10 minute version) by Taylor Swift; If You Wanted a Song Written About You, All You Had to Do Was Ask by Mayday Parade; Deadringer by Knocked Loose; Stronger than You (yes the undertale one); Shadow of The Colossus by Gatsby's American dream.
OTHER MUSIC
I know my top five albums seem pretty emo, but consider the fact I only listed albums I could name every song on. I love a ton of artists, and a ton of songs. As you can see, my top albums and songs right now totally differ. I love a lot of typically "emo" artists, but I also love Lana Del Rey, Taylor Swift, The Weekend, Playboi Carti, Mitski, Conan Gray, Lady Gaga, and I also listen to a ton of musicals and soundtracks.
