Budget Screen Printing

I found this tutorial on Pinterest and thought that it would be helpful to others wanting to screen print but not pay so much for the materials.

All you need is:

  • a picture frame
  • clothing you want to print
  • a pair of plain tights
  • scissors
  • modpodge
  • stapler/binder clips
  • paint
  • fabric softener
  • paint brushes
  • paper
  • pencil/pen
  • and cardboard
Step 1:

Draw what you want to put on your clothing on a piece of paper.

Step 2:

Take your tights, cut them in half and cut off the feet.

Step 3:

Stretch one of the legs to fit over the picture frame, then staple them to the frame or use binder clips to hold the tights in place.  Cut off the tights on one side of the frame.

Step 4:

Use the sketch you made as a stencil and trace it onto the now stretched tights.

Step 5:

Modpodge all areas you don't want to get paint on and wait to dry.

Step 6:

Place cardboard inbetween the front and back of the piece of clothing you want to print on and place the picture frame BACKWARDS where you want the design.

Step 7:

Mix fabric softener and acrylic paint together to make fabric paint.

Step 8:

Paint over the stencil in whatever color you want.

Step 8: Remove stencil and wait for the clothing to dry then you're done!!
