Rolling Coffin

In an area called Long Branch, West Virginia, there is a story that came to be around the 1960's. The story starts with two people walking home late at night with only the moon to light the narrow road. As they walk, they began to hear something moving in the trees. They stop and look up the hillside with caution. They both began to fear a wild animal was stalking them. The sound became louder and quicker moving toward them. To their absolute horror, a brown and black coffin rolled out of the hillside, crossed the road and disappeared in the creek. They both ran to the embankment to search for the coffin only to find absolutely no sign of it.

Stories like this have been passed down from elders in the area, recalling their horror ghost stories. To this day, people who walk that road and know the story fear the coffin crossing their path.
