Banning gender affirming treatment for trans minors in Mississippi?

So apparently there is a law about to be passed in the Mississippi house about banning trans-inclusive treatments for transgender youth. Rob Hill says that it is because of the high suicide rates of transgender youth and that it would "improve" mental health by not getting the surgeries even though surgery has nothing to do with mental health. Seriously, what has happened to the world?

Sadly, these people forget too that trans youth aren’t getting surgeries. That’s just a thing that never happens. Not only is it just incredibly difficult to get them, regardless of age, but doing surgery like that on anybody under the age of 18 is just dangerous. Cosmetic or not.

The most that trans youth want is just to be treated like a normal human being. Using their correct pronouns, allowing them to dress the way they feel comfortable with, using their preferred name. And in some cases, puberty blockers.

All of these things are readily available for non-trans youth and it’s fairly easy to get. So it’s not the gender affirming aspect of it that scares them to “protect” the youth. If it was, these things wouldn’t be available for any kids at all.

Not to mention trans youth’s high suicide rate has nothing to do with getting correct gender affirmation but everything to do with the abuse they go through because of their identity. Anti trans parents, homophobic peers at school, sexual/physical/emotional abuse inflicted on them because people don’t see them as human, being kicked out of their homes because their parents refuse to take care of a child, and in some cases just straight up murderer.

Many people, who claim just as this guy did, that it’s to “save trans lives.” Have no idea what they’re doing, are doing everything to continue the torture and murder of trans people, and then try and gloss over it with “we’re trying to help.”

It’s a sad sad world we live in where stupidity rules over everybody :(

well put. politicians say they're looking out for the best interests of trans kids when really they're just being openly transphobic. so dumb.
