bus 142

i get so angry whenever i remember bus 142 and how it had to be removed bc assholes kept trashing and vandalizing it. you shitheads, you filthy pigs, you fuckfaces, you stupid bitches.

think about what your actions say for you and your character. think about the true meaning and value behind everything. think about what Christopher McCandless has come to represent; bravery, morality, individuality, authenticity, innovation, compassion, and freedom.

that hike to bus 142 was like that of a pilgrimage. it was a place to go to remember him and pay respects. it served as a monument of him, his beliefs, and his inspiring journey.

it makes me wonder how could someone take days out of their life to go to Fairbanks Alaska, trek miles through the unforgiving wilderness, compete with the elements day and night, and hike all the way to the spot where Christopher’s entire life and two-year long adventure came to an end, where he spent his final days. my question is; after all that, to finally stand where he stood, where he contemplated self reinvention and corruption, how could someone stand there and think “yeah this place really needs a dick on the wall”

shame it is that i’ll never be able to make that hike to visit the bus. but what matters is the lasting impact that Chris left on the world, and the lasting impact he has forever left on me. that can never be destroyed.

R.I.P.
