forgotten (a spoken word)

I was lost without you by my side The garden was empty without your touch The only sounds were the whispers of the wind Your presence lingered, but you were nowhere to be found I searched high and low, but you were gone Years passed and the world kept spinning I watched as an asteroid fell from the sky But it couldn't fill the void you left behind I wandered through our old home, but it felt empty without you I tried to move on, but I couldn't shake the pain I missed your laughter, your smile, your warmth I missed the way you made me feel alive But you were gone and I was left to face the world alone When my friend passed, I couldn't help but think of you If a thought goes unspoken, does it disappear? I never spoke of the pain of your loss, I buried it deep inside But it felt like a wound that would never heal I tried to hold on to the memories, but they started to fade I was afraid that I would forget you, that you would slip away But then I found a way to keep you close I wrote down all the things I remembered, the things I loved about you I wrote about your kindness, your strength, your courage I wrote about the way you made me feel And now, whenever I feel alone, I read what I wrote And for a moment, I am with you again You may be gone, but you will never be forgotten You will always live on in my heart
