retro fun facts: children's horror double dipping

Did you know:

The Goosebumps episode “Say Cheese and Die!” and the Are You Afraid of the Dark? episode “The Tale of the Curious Camera” have a TON in common?

Both episodes feature a plot in which a camera’s instant photos predict bad future events, one of which is a car crash involving the protagonist’s parents. Both episodes are lead by a child actor who went on to achieve success in adulthood–Ryan Gosling in Goosebumps and Eddie Kaye Thomas in Are You Afraid of the Dark? Both episodes feature actor Christian Tessier in similar roles as a bully, and both episodes were directed by Ron Oliver. 

Maybe the most shocking similarity between the episodes, though, is that, in both, the person who owns the camera before the protagonist is played by the same actor, Richard McMillan. 

Man. Talk about double dipping.
