you know in most stories and books when a protagonist finds a place where a lot of people from what they know about in like a niche group makes them feel like they have walked into a whole other world? most times when I try out a new website there is a lot of users that make me thing "yeah there is a whole bunch of people here that are roughly from the same time era that I am from despite the different the fact that some of the users are older then I". (heck there is a place called Retrospring that has more modern features despite it literally having "Retro" as a name). and I did think that the closest to me finding something from a different time era was going to be Neocities and Pillowfort.
Then I got onto SpaceHey's and the layout section on this site.
I thought that there was going to be maybe a couple of blogs that maybe were based on stuff from years a go. and maybe a lot of the layouts where gonna have a lot of stuff like FNAF or Cult of the Lamb Layouts. or there was going to be a whole bunch of Profile Photos with a bunch of Modern Fandoms and well regular photos (this last one don't count because I was proven correct about this).
I would never has suspected that what I would see is so many photos and Layouts with Invader Zim and Homestuck characters for days. like there is so many it is surreal. yes there is a lot of different Layouts with Night's in the Woods but there was a bunch with Twilight, the Book series Twilight, that was like from a long time ago. also there is so much Pastel and Goth Layouts with a bit of the I think the goth with the colorful stuff in the hair I think is called emo's. there is just a lot of this stuff that came at me with a metaphorical bat.
Now please do not take this as me making fun of these layouts, I have not been in high school for a few years so I can't make fun of these layouts that were probably made by coders who are more talented then me. now you may be wondering why I am so shocked is that I was not on the internet in the 2000s, only to play Poptropica as a child, so seeing this all is like a pure moment that could maybe be described best as culture shock to me.
this also caused me to maybe look up when this website was made and I found out it was released on November 26, 2020. That was Three years ago from now in 2023, so ether A, there was some people who really needed a way to live by the quote "Cringe But Free" or B, the creator of this site was determined to make a place that if anyone questioned what this place was going for the response would be "did you heard me stutter?", and you know what, good for them.
so what dose this all make me conclude with? well this is kind of cool, it is something that have managed to make me want to try to deal with me Neocities Website that I was keeping myself from dealing with, I think its because the layouts are rather simple enough for me to have an idea on what is going on when you code. it also helps that there is this little blog feature that is really fun to write in. it makes me glad that I tried this place out due to 箕島 綺譚 (they/them) being here. ( I found out about them from a website about Anime that would have there Tweets from Twitter to read about since I do not and will never get a Twitter account for personal use).
