(Bulletin Repost) A short explanation of why I don't like people who cyberbully for 'problematic' fiction

I'm a survivor of all sorts of fucked up shit but I feel like some of y'all are bigoted. I understand if u dislike it or feel uncomfortable by it but u all have to right to just ignore and leave, don't go out of ur way to freak out and harass people about it. I felt scared to make vent art and trauma coping music due to the constant backlash other people got for making similar fiction.

It's very evident that vent art and art therapy is a very great way for people still experiencing trauma to cope healthily. In my experience at least, fellow trauma victims I've known who have done vent art (Writing stories, making songs, drawing, edits, etc.) are the most optimistic compared to the ones who haven't. It really helps to clear my mind and get everything out. Even then, we post it with trigger warnings.

Also, I may sound dumb to you but comparing my trauma to a cartoon loli completely waters down my trauma and it offends me a lot. It sounds like you'd rather protect an anime girl who looks like a child than a real child. In fact, as a person who gets confused for way younger than my real age often (I'm 17 as of writing this), it's a body positive thing to me. It makes me feel appreciated and attractive, (Yes, in Japan it's legal to watch hentai when you're over 16, deal with it. I watch consensual ones where the loli is an adult). It's often curvy women who get the love but thanks to such "off brand", I feel a lot happier about my body. But no, I'm not gonna express my sexuality till I'm 18 and that's for the better lol.

Also, fiction cannot be used as a scapegoat for societies irresponsibilities. Multiple lawyers who've presented the argument that "Video games cause violence" have been kicked due to this. It also sounds very shallow as it's a super easy conclusion to come to in the eyes of the average Gen X parent (No offense to y'all tho).

Overall, the argument that fiction is the direct cause of tragedies sounds like something a lazy person who doesn't want to do anything to prevent or help victims of such situations but still wants something to be proud of would say. Do something with your life. Even just donating to charities can help. Get urself busy with better things.

YES! THANK YOU for posting this!

To be fair and, speaking from personal experience, I find it quite hilarious when someone refuses to distinguish the difference between a cartoon character and actual harmful content where real breathing people are exploited and taken advantage of. When you think about it, the people who attack you for producing and consuming problematic fiction think that they're "trying to save the world" or something like that when, in reality, they look like fools.
