*+:。.。 Kpop Roundup 2022 。.。:+*

Welcome everyone to Kpop roundup 2022! Where I just talk about my favorite kpop songs of the recent year. Quick disclaimer, This list is based off of my personal biased stupid tastes, Also I'm merely a kpop girl enjoyer and am not a kpop industry or music expert by any means. Let's begin by ranking my top 10 songs of the year

 Girls - Aespa

It slays. That's all I have to say about that.

Talk that talk - Twice

I always like their comeback tracks no matter what usually, though twice's music output has become predictable however no matter how boring and predictable they get I am always in twice's corner. Not to say I like the song just because I "stan" twice and no other reason I genuinely really enjoy this song it's fun and has a lot of hooks which is how I like all my pop music to be.

Smile - Yena

I think it's obvious that Yena is doing the best in terms of a solo career after iz*one's tragic disbandment, at least in my eyes. I think she's got some good promotion and stylists behind her so good for her! this song just makes me feel very good and I think it's helped even more by having Bibi as a feature. I'm a big fan of Bibi her callousness really elevates the rest of the song and contrasts really well with yena's high energy.

Attention - Newjeans

Newjeans seemingly came out of nowhere and instantly with lot of controversy which has still been raging. The criticism I've seen has been very valid and true and I feel I have nothing smart to add to the conversation. But this is a really good song there's nothing else to say though it's a very gen z song I do enjoy it a lot.

Bop Bop - Viviz

I was never all that interested in gfriend despite having a lot of qualities of other groups I enjoy (and also that one time a member that isn't in viviz posed with a nazi mannequin) which put me off very much. I've been enjoying Viviz's output and bop bop is just too catchy to the point where it's annoying but that is my style of music so I can't complain about that.

Super Yuppers - WJSN chocome

They fill that hole in my heart that misses orange caramel so very much. The low(er) budget m/vs, the catchy j-popesque tunes and the impeccable stage outfits. It's everything to me.

GingaMingaYo - Billie

This song made me stan Billie this song is just so ?? bananas crazy ??? it's hard not to constantly listen to on repeat for me. It has the same effect that party rock anthem or some edm songs have on me.

Flip that / Pose - LOONA

Ok I've put two songs here which is cheating I guess but whatever this is my list. A lot has happened for LOONA my beloved girl group. I'm sure if your an orbit you're familiar with Chuu being booted and defamed by BBC as well as the current boycott (which is why I haven't linked it more on that later) against BBC. I am genuinely heartbroken over Chuu leaving she is (was?) my favorite member of the group, but any loss of a member would've upset me. I'm very emotionally (parasocially) involved with the group,I can never regain those feelings I had for the group like I had in 2019. I understand that's just the nature of memory and time but I never thought their dissolution would happen so soon. I have a lot of positive feelings towards LOONA and the girls but I also have a lot of hatred and anger towards BBC and the industry that allows mistreatment to happen. From now on I am no longer streaming and music or buying any LOONA merchandise as not to financially support BBC, I will continue to support the members and especially Chuu. oh I also did like Flip that and pose lol.

After Like - IVE

I love this song, it's just really cute and fun and it makes me feel nice and honestly that's all i wanted in 2022. Though I will say I'm not a huge fan of super obvious samples (like that one bebe rexha song) and I don't think it was used especially cleverly but whatever I really enjoyed it and it's what I needed.

Finally the best song of the year! (in my own humble opinion)

Feel my rythym - Red velvet

The princess tutu, princess, hyper femme vibes are. . . immaculate it's a real girls girl song. It has some beautiful classical music mixed in which I think is a clever way to incorporate a sample. In typical SM production fashion it's also a bit weird, I've always been a fan of the "experimental" type beats SM comes out with, The music video was beautiful and made me tear up a bit. It's got a fantastical element to it and is just a really great song accompanied by some of the best kpop visuals of 2022. It's good for the soul, the heart, the mind, the body like,,, get into it!

So that's my top 10! I'm get into some of the bests of 2022 as well as some honorable mentions and underrated tracks.

Best Solo artist song - Smile - Yena

Best debut song - Attention - Newjeans

Best boy group/male soloist song - Whisper - The boys

Fave album/EP - Flip that - LOONA

(if you click the link you can find loona's discography w/out needing a streaming service)

Honourable Mentions

When I move - KARA, Forever 1 - Girls generation, Step back - GOTIDK - EXID

I'm always excited every time a beloved "old" kpop group makes a comeback, also Step back makes me laugh every time because it reminds me of the "gregorian monks start deep throating" post from tumblr.

INVU - Taeyon, Bamboleo - Red velvet, VENOM - BVNDIT (RIP), 28 reasons - Seulgi

The great mermaid - Le sserafim, Nuh-uh - Chung Ha, RUN2U - Stayc, PoP! - Nayeon

Funky glitter christmas - NMIXX

Underrated jamms

Rolex - TripleS, One and a half - Chuu (my beloved)

CSR I've included just the entirety of CSR's discography so far because I barely see any discussion or posts about them? and I've enjoy all the music I've heard from the group so far

That comes to the end of my Kpop 2022 roundup! If you read this entire thing then that's insane and thank you! Tell me your top 10 and/or underrated songs of 2022 (kpop or otherwise) in the comments I'm interested to find out!
