Favorite Japanese Albums (Currently)

bored so I'm gonna make a list of my favorite japanese music that I definitely recommend

I don't know music theory or that much about music in general this is just my taste!!!

Kirinji's (one of my favorite bands) debut album. Great Jpop with city pop influences. Probably not the only Kirinji album that's gonna be on here.

Favorite tracks: New Town, 双子座グラフィティ

Modal Soul by Nujabes (2005)

Amazing instrumental hip hop. The vocal features are kinda lame (except Shing02 of course, he's great).

Favorite Tracks: Light on the land, Luv(sic) pt3, reflection eternal

The Deep by Soul Scream (1996)

Probably the most underrated album on this list. If you like rap and you're gonna listen to one album on this list make it this one!!! It's pretty much perfect boom bap with immaculate vibes and samples. I don't think I've ever seen an album where the music sounds so accurate to the album cover.

Favorite Tracks: 15丁目, 無限の次元, 0番線

River's Island by 杉山清貴&オメガトライブ (Sugiyama Kiyotaka & Omega Tribe) (1984)

Pure City Pop. This could be interchanged with literally any other Omega Tribe Record, they're all similar, this one's just my personal favorite.

Favorite Tracks: River's Island, Asphalt Lady, 最後のナイトフライト

Moonglow by 山下達郎 (Tatsuro Yamashita) (1979)

City Pop but somehow even more Disco. I was gonna put Ride on Time here but I realized I prefer Moonglow. Hot Shot has one of the rawest guitar solos in City Pop.

Favorite Tracks: Funky Flushin', Hot Shot, Rainy Walk

Fine by Kirinji (2001)

A bit more relaxed than Paper Driver's Music.

Favorite Tracks: Favorite, Drifter, 雨は毛布のように
