Why people collectively hate on Lana Del Rey, and why I don't get it.

To start this off I'm going to make it clear, I am NOT native American.

I've been accused in the past for trying to speak for them and that's NOT what I'm doing.

My question is why hate on Lana?

most people have these 5 reasons

-wearing headdress

-kissing sister

-"Mexican cultural appropriation"

-burning bible

-question for the culture

First, back in 2012, Lana wore a Native American Headdress in her music video for her song "Ride"

she got lots of backlash for this a couple years in the future (as cultural appropriation was not widely talked about in the 2010s and was almost encouraged...) after the back las Lana

apologized

made poetry book/album

donated over 300k to help rebuild homes and give Native Americans fresh running water.

while other celebrities who have worn one have not even apologized, let alone donated over 300k

next, is Lana kissing her sister

yes that might sound weird but its as bad as you think

Lana and her sister Chuck where recreated old childhood photos (which I heard were for an art project)

and one of them was Lana giving chuck (her sister) a peck on the lips.

They did NOT make out (as some people say that to dramatize it)

so in my opinion, not that bad

next cultural appropriation towards Hispanic people, mainly Mexicans,

In her project Tropico, some people had a problem with how she dressed

...

it's all based on the catholic religion. Half of my family and some of my friends are Catholic, I've seen the clothes first hand. Also, a large portion of Mexico is catholic so I could see how people could confuse it.

Burning Bibles,

this one is short and sweet

people made up a rumor she burned a Bible

the only proof they have is a video of a dark-haired tan woman doing it.

the video was made back in 2010 when Lana went by "Lizzy Grant" look her up shes pale and blonde 

Question for the culture.

I WILL ALWAYS DEFEND LANA ON THIS

she was not slut shaming anyone

she stated that she was tired of being yelled at and crucified for "glamorizing ab-se" when multiple female artists sing about quote "being sexy, wearing no clothes, f--ki-g, cheating etc"

which she named dropped a couple artists to give an example.

two of those being NICKI MINAJ and CARDI B

trust me if they had a problem with it they would've fought her.... 

The post then goes on to say how she has never glamorized ab-se but sung from the perspective of other person experiencing it (like how the thing goes saying "if you have rose-colored glasses on in a relationship all the red flags just look like flags")

Also, she went through a LOT of substance/relationship ab-se so don't EVER say she can't speak on those topics.

there's a couple other minor things but those are the main 5 thing people cancel her on

I know she isn't perfect but no one is :) we live we learn
