I'm new here and don't know what I want to post about yet, so might as well start with one of my hobbies. I like collecting animal bones and other dead stuff.
Here's the thing that started my (still pretty small) collection, a dog skull I found 2 years ago:
(The fang is missing because I used it to make a necklace charm)This dog was already a clean skeleton when I found it in a forest nearby, so I didn't have to do much when it comes to cleaning. Just scrubbed all the dirt off it and let it soak in some water with dish soap for a few days just in case it still needed some degreasing. I didn't even have to whiten it, the sun had already done the job for me.
Here's how I found it: It was in a pretty rough condition. It had a colony of ants living inside, which was pretty cool.
I found half of the mandible, a lot of vertebrae, some broken ribs and leg bones scattered all around the area.
Here are the ribs and vertebrae I took: The ribs were buried by leaves and dirt and were almost completely black, even after I scrubbed them with soap. But after leaving them in hydrogen peroxide for over a week, I managed to make them almost white (the photo's are edited and don't show the actual color)
I also took some of the leg bones, but these aren't on display. I just keep them in a box:
