'Matilda the musical' thoughts

I had a lot of fun doing this for its a wonderful life so i want to do it again for Matilda the musical! 

SPOILERS AHEAD 

- i actually cannot begin to overstate how long i have been waiting for this to come OUT i have been talking about it all day since no one in my family wants to watch it so i have to watch it late at night and im HYPED i have my snacks ready im on my beanbag lets GO 

- do you think they made everything so bright and cheerful to balance out the fact that they spent more time exploring matilda's emotions at living in such a crummy house?

- CAUSE IF YOU'RE LITTLE YOU CAN DO A LOT YOU MUSNT LET A LITTLE THING LIKE LITTLE STOP YOU AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!

- SHE DID HER POSE!!! THE POSTER POSE!!!! im losing it guys 

- between this and the wall, britsh elementary school is no joke

- ITS RED BERET GIRL LETS GO 

- red beret girl was technically late to class i wonder if thats important 

- oh i knew a kid just like nigel lol thats v funny 

- bruh she read LOTR along with other books in a single week i literally read that for a month and gave up (tbf i dont like fantasy anything) 

- WHAT DID THEY DO TO EMMA THOMPSON??

- not sure how i like the change of the book ripping scene into being so comedic when i remember it as sincerely terrifying as a child. . . 

- pigtails spotted *kill bill sirens*

- "teachers don't really throw students" ohohohohoh

- i quite liked this scene saving nigel! so cute 

- Matilda recreating 1001 arabian nights by accident is ADORABLE

- idk why theyre making faces that looks like normal british cuisine OHOHOHOHO

- its not a movie musical without some real bad CGI 

- the staff being dismissed when a child needs to be punished is terrfying actually 

- "he should have thought of that before he made a pact with Satan" LMAO WHAT

- the children only dancing as soon as trunchbull has her back turned to them is brilliant actually. also one point for a TARDIS reference i thought that was cute 

- if a strong sense of justice gives matilda telepathic powers than why not ME 

- ITS WHEN I GROW UP TIME AWOIJGOIEGIWPEHGWE DONT LOOK AT MEEEEEEEE

 - ohhhhhh i understand how this ties into the story now 

- im just going to come out and say that matilda is a trans girl 

- seeing the light literally leave the classroom with trunchbull comes in is soooooo satisfying. lighting design ftw

- like a true gym teacher she makes everyone exercise while she sits

- i have not said anything about it but the lyricism is actually amazing  

- ah just what i wanted in my musical adaption of my favorite childhood story. body horror.

- "wow. they pay teachers really badly." 

- lashana lynch has a BEAUTIFUL voice  

- why is escapologist pronounced like that btw i dont like that 

- NIGEL IS A KING AN ICON ITS REBELLION TIME

- oh she isn't going to break into her house to set up her fear of being haunted? hmm. . . 

- her hair being tied into pigtails before she is thrown around with them is a v nice touch 

- OH IS IT TIME IS IT TIME

- ITS TIIIIIIIIIIME REVOLTING CHILDREN 

- bruce dancing did not catch on as much as the red beret girl's did but he was amazing too

- its finally this scene. the one ive seen hundreds of time on tiktok. nice

- sincerely i think he called her his daughter in that moment just to try and convince her the family isn't that bad and she would say she would want to stay with the wormwoods. 

- im glad this scene has the same feelings of 'this is the only kind act the woomwords have ever done for Matilda' but also that glue looked DISGUSTING. PAY YOUR CGI ARTISTS!

- if someone twirled me by my hair i think i would not want to go on the spinny chairs 

- them having a literal fair in the school yard is, i believe, a callback to Grease
