Holiday reflections

2022, am I right?

It´s that time of the year again as people decorate their trees, prepare for a family gathering and engage in the hell that is holiday consumerism.

As for me I couldn´t really care less, Christmas pretty much ended for me as soon I reached the age of reason, leaving behind the wonder of childhood and being too much aware of the stress of family reunions with members who do not care about you.

Fortunately, I no longer have the obligation of travelling miles to visit extended family. I mean there´s still my parents dinner so that is still inescapable.

Now, don´t getme  wrong I don't hate all of it, I like some of the decorations, street lights, my favorite Christmas Specials of all time includes gremlins, the muppets christmas carol, and the community episodes.

And when its not being shoved down my throat in late October, some songs are a banger. (seriously just why is it so darn early?)

I even went as so far to make my website festive

But I´m ahead myself, how did this year hold up?

• I decided to get into coding and made a website for the time in my life
• Got into traditional blogging.
• Got vacinated
• Tried to work on my resume but failed, again.
• Stopped drawing for a while
• My beloved pet fish, a pleco died last October, RIP
• Stuggled with Family more than usual.
• Got into Neopets again (I got my account back after so long only shit, site´s till half broken, and got a Darigan Paint Brush after so many years thanks to one kind user.
• Got into scrapbooking and stickers
• Started working on my photography protofolio (so many photos, oh god)
• Saw a live Kingfisher for the very first time in my life (and saved a fish)
• Finally got into that aqua museum for the first time (no otter though, it died)
• Our garage got flooded, twice.

Other than that it was uneventful.
As for the non-personal events that got my attention? Well:

• One of my favorite niche horror artists turned out to be a dick, harassing people online while being a huge hypocrite himself
• Elon Musk bought twitter, creating chaos, and throwing tantrums while also becoming the Web´s greatest comedy act:

• On the other side of cyberspace, Tumblr got into this (which totally does not exist) lost Martin Scorcese movie called Goncharov, and went to town with it.
• Twitter exodus cometh, Tumblrites in response do the web equivalent of shooting in the air to keep the propriety values down.
• Russia Invades Ukraine (and currently the Ukrainian resistance is all what stands between us and probably WWIII, oh god)
• The death of an innocent woman jumpstarted a massive protest over Repressive Iranian moral laws
• A fucked up dude came into a gay club to kill people, luckily a veteran and a trans woman proceeded to kick his ass.
• Alex Jones got sued, lmaooooooo
• Blaire White is about to Become the Next Alex Jones 😈
• The Johny/Amber heard trial made everyone loose their minds this summer, setting back feminsim a decade (for the record I think Depp was the abuser) Eventually she got a settlement, which means no gag order and she doesnt have to pay him shit.
• After Almost a decade the sequel to Avatar is finally here, and it´s booooring
• Soccer in Qatar,depsite dozens of human rights violations,hosted this years World Cup. (there also some corruption involved)
• This Year´s Pokemon World Championship had a Portuguese Champion, who won against Spain lmaoooo
• Speaking of Pokemon, this time the Games region is inspired by the Iberian Penisula
• OMG, there´s a Barbie, movie!!!! It´s gonna be great.
• On the other side of the spectrum, you have Mario voiced by..... Christ Pratt, just why?
• Once again Del toro is killing it by making the only good Pinochio adaptation this year.
• JK Rowling is losing her shit more then usual (mad because us queers wont buy your harry potter game Johanne?)
• Wendell and Wild was awesome, NOPE was awesome nuff said
• Mastodon is becoming the new app in town
• Artists started off the year by getting screwed over by NFTs of their stolen work, and when that crashed and burned they´re getting screwed over by AI art.
• Crypto currency is in crisis, fortunes were lost, who cares.
• Dave Chapelle is a dick
• Another Black Comedian (not Dave chapelle) got slapped in the face for being an asshole to Smith´s wife, and the memes were glorious
• It´s Morbin Time! Morbius became the most popular unwatched movie in history. Danceoffs were had
• Portugal had the honor of having House of Dragons filmed there (decent show 5 stars)

And that is all the stuff I recall from another wacky year, I wouldnt be suprised if something crazy happened before it ends (like twitter crashing for good).
