Is Sonic Frontiers the return of sonic?

I'd say as an era where sonic is mostly a multi media sensation, sonic has plenty of places which to force himself into pop culture. However in terms of games, this is probably the best sonic game in 10 years. A game which takes its potential and doesn't waste it; a game with respect for the past without simply repeating it; a game... that is fun lol.

And the decision to put sonic into open areas and allow him to go anywhere and do things in any order he wants opens up gameplay possiblities that I didn't think were possible in a sonic game. 

Of course the game fumbles at the 3rd act and there is massive pop in so sorry to all the graphics nerds out there, but these problems weren't enough to over shadow the joy i felt from talking with sonic friends and learning more about them or doing a really challenging platforming section only to be rewarded with one of the many collectables needed for progression (almost like collect-a-thon)

Overall, it's a great game that hopefully gets a sequel to iron out alot of the rough edges.
