Did I Achieve My 2022 New Years Goals?

Now is the most appropriate time to talk about the New Years Resolutions I set for myself in 2022, because a lot has happened within the past year, and it’s almost over.

1. Watch More Anime

SUCCESS

I have already exceeded the amount of anime I watched in 2020 and 2021 combined. I’m more referring to minutes spent watching anime and episodes watched, not necessarily the number of anime seasons/series watched. And this year was particularly amazing for anime! We had gems like Spy x Family, Kaguya-Sama Season 3, and Bocchi the Rock! So if I had a year where I would watch more anime, I’m glad it’s 2022.

2. Do More Guided Meditations

FAILURE

I gave up on that goal since it was getting harder to focus. Plus, with my job, I could be in the middle of meditating, and then someone will need me to do some things. With me prioritizing Games and Anime, I found it hard to fit meditation into my life. If I do it in the morning, I’d fall back asleep. If I do it late at night, I’d probably fall asleep in the middle of meditation. Wait. That last part might be good depending on the meditation. I’m most likely not going to do guided meditations in 2023.

3. Fully Digitize My Journal

SUCCESS

My journals are fully digitized. I have been doing this project since 2013, and now all my handwritten journal entries have been digitized into Microsoft Word documents and PDFs. Now I can re-read all my handwritten journal entries from 2012 onward digitally.

4. (Optional) Spend at Least $1,000 on Art Commissions

FAILURE (About $320 spent)

This is the only goal where I’m glad I failed. I could barely afford to save money given how expensive rent is in my place. For that, commissioning other artists wasn’t a priority. In fact, I don’t have any pending or in-progress commissions.

$320 is still a lot of money to spend on art commissions, and I could have used that money to buy a Xbox Series X, which I do have on my Christmas list. And if I don’t get a Nintendo Switch for Christmas, I’ll buy one.

Final Thoughts

So far, 2022 has been one of the best years of my life. Sure, there have been some hiccups, but the year as a whole was amazing. Living with myself away from my family has given me a lot more freedom, and that has allowed me to focus on some of the things I want to focus on. Games, Anime, and why not travel to a few places in the northeast? It’s a totally new region for me and exploring it has been great.

2023 will be different, as I will be changing my anime-watching habits a lot. Notably, I’m going to focus less on anime and focus more on other things. More on that in my upcoming New Years Goals for 2023 post. The goals I set for this year have guided me throughout 2022, and the goals I will set for next year will guide me throughout 2023.
