Holy shit does time go by.
My birthday is tomorrow. I'll be turning 18, which means I'll be a legal adult in the United States. Despite this, it doesn't really feel like I'm ready to be an adult. I'm still somewhat stressing out about applying to college, getting scholarships, graduating High School, trying to get a job, and all of the other lovely bullshit that comes along with starting adulthood.
It feels like it wasn't that long ago when I was jamming out to "I Cry" by Flo Rida, listening to a Top 40 station in the Dubuque, IA area while visiting family. It feels like it wasn't that long ago when I was in 4th grade at the Henry Doorly Zoo in Omaha, 2 days away from a tornado outbreak. It also doesn't feel like it's been 14 years since I was building a super tall tower out of Legos in preschool.
Needless to say, the pressure is on. The pressure to get a job so I can move out and begin my life of independence. I don't really know how I'm going to begin my life as an adult, but I guess I'll have to figure it out.
