it's actually really simple. The heat plate boils the water inside the flask, and the steam travels through the tubing and into a Liebig condenser which has cold water running through it. This rercondences the water which is now completely free of impurities, and it drips into the wash bottle so it can be stored for later.
Sorry for rambling about nerd shit!! I just really like science lol.
