With the longest holiday season of the year around the corner, I am sharing some places I want to visit. I am sort of in a crossroads going to these places at the moment because all my vacation leave is going to spend time with my immediate family, and going with them may eat my savings compared to going alone (e.g. gas, car rental, flight tickets, hotel, entertainment, food, etc.). That being said, if economy gets better and I get a good extra source of money, it is possible I can bring them in. Ok, without further ado, my top bucket list to visit in the United States:
Big Sur, California
So I have been looking at this spot of America in a while after playing GTA V for almost 10 years now. Big Sur has a few landmarks and locations that I want to see myself: Carmel-by-the-Sea, the Pacific Coast Highway, and Avenue of the Giants are some of the places that stand out for me.
Death Valley (California, Nevada)
I was on a work related trip almost 10 years ago, I drove between LA and Las Vegas. I was lucky to see a glimpse of this inhospitable yet beautiful landscape between the states of California and Nevada. I wish to have more time to do a proper visit to this place, preferably during this time of the year when temperatures are mild compared to the middle of August when I was driving for work.
Grand Canyon, Arizona
This one is a no brainer. I discovered there is also a train that takes you straight to the canyon state park and you don't have to deal with the traffic going there. It is my plan to visit at some point as it is just to see the canyon and nothing else.
Mauna Kea National Park, Hawaii
This stratovolcano is one of the tallest and most prominent mountains in the world. It also has an observatory at the top. It is also the only place in Hawaii where you can ski because it snows!
Honorary mentions, because I have been there before, but I just love the vibe of it:
Florida Keys
This last picture above is still on my bucket list. This is Fort Jefferson at Tortuga Key. I have seen people camping there and it sounds awesome. Because we are talking about the Florida Keys, this time of the year it must be packed full of tourists from up north looking for a place to keep warm during winter.
Cumberland Island, Georgia
It is located off the coast of Georgia, I went there on Labor Day weekend a year ago, and I loved it! I am planning to do another trip but next time walk the whole length of the island, and camp during the night if necessary. Be careful on walking over horse poop thought, also don't try to pet the horses, they are running wild in the island.
I am thinking on doing a third blog entry, a part 2 of my United States' bucket list, stay tuned!
