As a disclaimer, nothing I say should necessary be taken literally or seriously. I know that I know nothing.
But as a personality disordered person, it occurs to me that my website/YouTube channel might actually be based upon having forced myself to develop cognitive empathy, and trying to encourage others to do the same. That might be the core of it. Watching people like Sam Vaknin helps me to realize these things. It's easier to see the issues with others and forgive them for it than it is to see the issues with oneself or forgive oneself at times. But listening to, learning from, and forgiving others can lead to self-empathy as well.
All people can have issues with empathy, that's why there are so many memes about being an "empath" out there, it's considered rare. I think the situation is much more complex, in that people tend to easily relate to in-groups and have trouble relating to out-groups, and also a lack of interest in learning about out-groups just increases the problem. And then social media creates echo chambers, further increasing the problem which was already there.
