I used to do this every year on MySpace, and since this feels like the days of old on here, the tradition shall continue...
Year-end wrap-up!!
This has been a wild year for me. My latest cd MOOD SWINGS still has signs of life left in it, as I have a couple more interviews coming up soon. It still sells nicely too, that's always a plus. But my eye and ear are already on the next album, and if all goes well, it should be out by Summer 2023.
Break out the sunscreen!
Played some gigs with the cover band Naked Glory, and while some were fun, my heart obviously belongs to the quirky music in my head. My trio played two killer shows this year, one back in March and another in July. Was hoping for a third gig but no dice. That's okay. There's always next year.
My album did not win Male Album Of The Year through the ISSA but I did pick up a shiny award for Instrumental Artist Of The Month back in October! And funny how things go: you do well, and some people get really quiet on you. I forget who said this, but it was something like "The better you do, the less people will sit with you at the table." So damn true.
And I moved on to a new guitar cable company called Ampturco, based out of Scranton, PA. People asked what happened with Spectraflex, and it was just a matter of me simply moving on. The owner retired, and I felt it was best to find new blood. We parted on VERY good terms, not that there was ever a reason to part on bad ones. He understood how I felt, and so with that, I contacted Anthony Turco. He sent me a cable to demo, and I immediately ordered four more. Then he signed me on this past July. Life is good!
So what does 2023 have in store? I don't know, nor will I make any predictions. I used to do that but would only bring me heartache. So now I say "Whatever happens, happens!" I do hope for the new album to drop by July/August. Mike and I have been rehearsing almost every Sunday, going over new tunes. And once TC Tolliver's schedule clears, we can get him in the studio to lay down his parts for one song.
I need a nap now!
