creds to neocities & yesterweb for making it easy finding these sites.

i'm planning on making my own website on neocities soon and want to vlog the process of learning how to code. i've wanted to forever but i know literal shit about coding, so i think it could be fun to look back on my journey in the future by making it a video/process vlog.

how do you go around in terms of finding old obscure websites?

Report Comment

most of these ive actually found pretty easily as i was a complete beginner, i just found a bunch of links from yesterweb, i looked in neocities, and oftentimes these smaller websites have links to a lot of other websites and you just keep clicking and fall down this loophole of websites. i remember i also used million shorts, i think its called, and webarchive, tho that one can be more of a headache, i still havent gone rly into that one. rn im using another web engine tho to test it out, but id say just finding one small website and rly exploring that one, most of the times they have webrings that lead to a bunch of other stuff if theyre either old or on neocities

sry for the super long answer lol, hope it helps !

but when I say it's well archived - I mean it
I am yet to find a link on any of the main snapshots that doesn't have a snapshoy of it's own, and the links on those profiles seem pretty damn complete too, and yes it's a lot of nostalgia to go through it.

and here I was looking for new search engine, thanks a lot
also I'n surprised web archive didn't make it before
I was lowkey thinking you didn't consider it it's own thing, and that's why it wasn't here
