Ending destination (for the final time)

This one isn't anything too special. just my thoughts on all final destination movies in a single post ig. My film rankings are : First>>fifth>second>>>>>>Fourth>third. 4 is pretty bad, but more entertaining than 3 for me

Final destination 1:

So I watched the first final destination movie. It was solid enough, not the greatest thing ever, but I liked some character stuff in there, it builds off Alex's paranoia well for most of it, and I thought all the different character reactions to his premonition about the 180 flight were pretty believable, with some like todd trying to console him, the teacher and others blaming him for it, and people like clear just being grateful to him that they were alive.

Which makes with everything she went trough regarding her father's dead until that point, and it was cool that she didn't fully bought it at first, when trying to explain dead' design, she tells him she now doesn't believe him, which makes sense, not only is hard to believe, but also a part of her probably doesn't wanna believe it, that her father's dead was the plan of a entity, as she complains about later in the movie And Alex getting more and more incriminated as he fails to prevent stuff is a nice progression of that, this is a small thing, but I liked that one of the detectives said he almost believed him at times during their interrogation. Because yeah, he's sounding crazy because his extreme paranoia, but it's also one based on something real

Honestly, my biggest complain about it, is the main selling point ig, how death was handled as a entity. Now, it's a cool concept no doubt, but I don't like some of the ways this movie went about it, felt out of place. I don't wanna say the movie is super deep, or "realistic" (hate that term) or anything, but it mostly goes for more or a serious tense tone, some of the ways death is portrayed and explained are kinda way too goofy. Like the Tony Todd's character way of explaining death, I know someone must kinda do so at one point, but idk, felt too stereotypical spooky for me, if that makes sense.

The actor's voice for the role is great tho, he does a pretty good job there. But shit like that death appearing as a shadow over shit and such, that felt too much like a ghost or something, I will rather it be more like a evil force than you can feel and predict based on your surroundings, rather than a actual entity you can actually see kinda, at least for this movie, if that makes sense

Final destination 2 :

Destinación final 2! I thought it was a solid enough movie lol. It lacks some strengths of the first movie, namely the main characters. Kimberly is not very interesting, and neither is the cop that accompanies her trough the movie, they felt pretty bland. Even clear has a little arc of helping them or not, even if she's still being hunted by death, which is something, even if not as interesting as her deal with how their current situation related to her dead father, and how Alex gets incriminated more and more by trying to save others in the first film

The deads felt way more brutal than in the first movie, namely the decapitation by elevator, and the guy being cut in 3 parts by a fence, and I liked that, in part because while the latter's character was more stereotypical than most things in the first film, I liked both of their final moments before that The guy wanting Kimberly to get rid of the shameful stuff he had, so his mother doesn't get sad for when he dies, and the mother begging to live as the elevator was painfully pulling her, which was a nice contrast to her saying she will met her son and husband in heaven and has accepted things. As tony Todd's character said, people are more alive right before dying

And ye, he is in this movie too lol, his voice keeps being awesome. And yeah, so is the dead being more like a ghost rather than a force like in the first film, with the branches being hands this time, which I am still not a fan of, but it's at least not as bad as in the first film, which had a slightly more serious tone otherwise I think The road accident and the other deads I did not mentioned were pretty good! Obviously not realistic/scary, but does buildup, and chain reactions pretty well.

Only major complain besides the main characters were some confusion with the ending (not the ending with the explosion at the barbecue, that was funny lol), I meant more so the ways death is beaten at the end Because... She is saved because of a doctor. But people always save each other in these movies, including this one, it just means they die another death later. Idk, maybe is the fact she also sacrificed herself before that, but it felt a bit weird to me But I liked the lore in this movie overall, how death is tying loose ends, and ended up killing all from the 180 flight, including alex off screen. I liked those characters, but yeah. Fun movie

Final destination 3 :

Saw final destination 3 just now. Yeah, that was considerably shittier than the other ones lol. Part of me was hoping for a trashier and dumber, but fun spectacle sequel. And while some parts were that, a considerable amount of the movie was fucking boring and lame

Like the opening rollercoaster scene! A rollercoaster disaster sounds like it has a lot of potential for a final destination movie, but they showed it in a really lame and boring way. Ig part of it is that the cgi hasn't aged well at all, and while stuff like the route crash from the previous film had some dated stuff, it looked significantly better imo

Stuff like the death of Ian's girlfriend had way too much unrelated buildup for the end of a really boring character. Almost everyone here was pretty dull stereotypes tbh, at least 2 had a bunch of interesting characters still, despite that

Well, Ian was sorta entertaining, he's still stereotypical edgy goth kid, but the Onision energy he gives when he wants to kill Wendy is funny lol, even if his reasoning that led him to do that made 0 sense, and was sadly not explored much

There's also the movie's gimmick.. where characters look at pictures of them and try to guess how they will die. Is a stupid gimmick, clues in the previous movies were more so a rare feel some characters saw, or a easter egg, like the H EYE thing in 2, it kinda takes the fun out of it when they focus on it so much

But the examples they use to explain this concept.... They use 9/11 and lincon for this... I am not joking...

Oh and the ending, Christ. They just do the first movie twist of them thinking it's over, but it's actually not. Except it doesn't work... because we already know it's not over from the first film. And ian dying later, which was after he was already skipped. Dumb.

This is a certainly a movie. A pretty shitty one lol

  1. There are a couple of things I thought were kinda cool, like the tanning beds deaths was probably the most brutal in the series do far, even if the way they were trapped there was really stupid, even for these movies

Final destination 4 :

So..."the final destination" (final destination 4).. Usually considered easily the worst one, and I can see why

It rushes a lot of shit, doesn't have the buildup of the previous movies, cgi and obnoxious 3D are awful. there are no decent characters, a lot of the deads were lame (namely George's, and also the draining pool death was way lamer that its concept would make you believe, the guy doesn't show the same struggle for life that something like the elevator dead did in 2, not selling the moment well)

And it does the stupid shit 3 did of the characters thinking they were safe, but actually still death, like in the first movie but worse, and it makes very little sense here

With all that said... a lot of this made the movie pretty entertaining, not in the best way, but for a lot of it made me laugh, even if a lot was also boring. And the racist's death (that's how he's credited in the credits btw) was "cinema" ngl..

Final destination 5

Final destination 5! The last final destination film as of now. And gotta say. It was actually a pretty decent ending of sorts. Specially compared to the previous two movies lol

I thought the new rule of taking someone's years if you kill them to be pretty natural for the franchise, even if the twist at the end that everyone's lives that were taken were gonna die soon anyways, to be a little too contrived for my liking, which usually doesn't bother me too much, but it's a small annoyance in what's otherwise a pretty neat full circle ending

And I enjoyed the plotline with peter descending into madness and desperation more and more, could have been explored significantly better, but I think it's a neat idea Speaking of characters, I actually liked some stuff with Sam, namely his paranoia when he feels his turn is soon, despite trying to accept death before. His relationship with mooly felt a bit "mandatory" tho. Like, not bad per say, but just there as a plot device mostly, I don't think it stands out too well in terms of being a good one, is just kinda there ig. But I suppose that's fine since it's not the main focus of the movie anyways

I thought a lot of deaths were a significant improvement over the previous two movies, the gym and eye death in particular weren't cowardly in showing the results, which I respect. Even if some others looked a bit off dpecial effects wise, there's still some 3D here (tho not nearly as bad as 4)

Overall solid time. I think I prefer the first film in terms of building up tension and characters, but this one was pretty solid
