Let me tell you a story about another story...
Has anyone heard me talk about Slayers on here, yet? There's a story set in that Verse elsewhere in this blog. By and large, though, it's ultra-cringe.
Around the same time that Battle of the War Bands was taking off (and I need to tell you about that alleged trilogy) I cooked up the idea of Slayers. Later on, I would come to find out it shared a name with a manga series. So that made me less keen to share it online and whatnot. But! That's neither here nor there. The real crux of it was inspired by Buffy and Angel. Unsurprisingly, those got me into being interested in supernatural fiction, be they vampires or something else. Fictionalized counterparts of me and my buddies Alex and Travis became superheroes empowered to fight vampires, demons, and other scum. It wasn't all just because of Buffy, though. We were obsessed with Diablo 2, and that added to the development. Of course, some of our other friends joined in and yes, I wrote about girls I was into as prospective love interests for my character, because duh. I was a dorky middle schooler who needed an outlet for his wish fulfillment. In the fullness of time, I get how weird and borderline creepy that was.
The "Original Series" as I started to call it ran for 20 episodes from January 2003 to June 2005. I did manage to read the original pilot episode on my YouTube channel, but when I attempted to read Dead in a Minute (episode 2), I don't think I could stop cringing at how terrible it all was. The writing quality picked up as we went along, but yeah, all in all, it was us fucking around and writing a story that sounded way cooler in our heads. If anyone is interested, I can post some of those on here after I've done a heavy edit of them. Oh! Yes, there is this, too: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09CG7HFRT
Go forth and happy reading!
