I’m sad this anime isn’t as popular!

I love this anime, it’s one of my all time favorites now. I found it while scrolling Crunchyroll at 3 am looking for something I would watch (because my sister has completely taken over my account and now all my recommended anime are either BL or sports anime).

I thought it looked interesting and gave it a chance, holy hell I loved it!

The show is called, get ready for it… Bucchigire!  Shine on!  Bakumatsu Bad Boys!

The anime is quite similar to Akudama Drive, which I haven’t seen. (I’ve read up on it and it doesn’t sound like something I’d watch)  It follows the story of a group of criminals on death row being saved by the Shinsengumi’s sole survivor.  They all had a choice, either join him, recreate the Shinsengumi, and avenge his fallen comrades.  Or die.

The series is only 12 episodes, created by Twin Engine (which has made some of my other favorites) and directed by Tetsuo Hirokawa.  I’m sure many long time anime fans will recognize the one who did the character designs by looking at one of the main characters, Heisuke Todo.

If you’re thinking “he looks like Yoh from Shaman King” then you’d be right.  Hiroyuki Takei worked on the character designs.

I want to get this show out there because I enjoyed it, and I highly recommend it. I really want people to give it a chance. 🥲
