Alrighty, you know the deal, comment with your favorite products and/or techniques to get your hair the way you really love it. Don't forget to mention your hair type and how it naturally behaves so others can try out what you're tryin.

My hair is dark brown (not dyed), coarse, thick, naturally wavy with frizziness. It also reaches down to my lower back and has a fair amount of damage to the ends, which I trim maybe once or twice a year, not as much as I really should. Since it's so much hair, I only wash it twice a week which is fine because my scalp is pretty dry and never gets oily. I'm a little lazy when it comes to my haircare but I have managed to simplify it because it's just so much of it to deal with.

The main focus for me due to the length and thickness of my hair is deep conditioning. I've used a whole lotta fancy stuff on my hair and it certainly works great, but I've gotten more than decent results from supermarket stuff so...I've been going with that recently. I will mention some incredible things I've come across but just haven't added to my cart in a while but they are worth it to me even if I don't use them daily.

My favorite brand is Davines. I don't go out of my way for it since I left the convenience of picking them up in shops in NY but I swear by these:

  • Davines LOVE Smoothing Shampoo
  • Davines LOVE Smoothing Conditioner - this is real thick and comes in a cute tub.
  • Davines OI Oil - this scent is to kill for. Almost like cologne but soft like warm vanilla. Anyone close enough to hug me became spellbound by the scent of my hair. I always have this.

They also made a spray that made your hair feel like 2nd day hair and it was perfect except for the weird candy scent but I cannot remember the name of this. A close replacement I used (that actually smells better) was the Bumble and Bumble Does it All Hairspray. Idk how to explain this but when brushed in, it separates the strands so they aren't sticky or clump together, cools off my hair and reduces static so it flows a little more natural like "dirty" hair would. Except its supa clean. I spray this underneath, the ends and throughout my hair as I finger comb it in, then brush it smooth.

Edit: GAMECHANGER PRODUCT:

Scalp care is critically essential, and I have found the absolute best scalp oil to eliminate dryness, flakes, irritation and it allows your hair to grow luxuriously too...It's Aceite de Moska from Ceremonia. I brush my hair from front to back and then take the oil dropper and squeeze rows of it gently across my entire scalp from the edges of my face back to the edge of my neck, not forgetting little sideburn area by the ears too. Then I take one of those rubber nubby scalp massagers and rub it all in, combing my head repeatedly with it. (but not all the way to the ends, just focus on the scalp) I leave it alone for 20 mins or more and then rinse it through to the ends of my hair in the shower, followed by shampoo and conditioner. Ceremonia makes incredible products. I like to also apply this oil while my hair is still damp and blow-dry right after to make my hair so ridiculously soft. Then twist it into a bun with a cloth scrunchie to give it a gentle wave when unraveled.

Here is my normal supermarket routine:

Shampoo - honestly for me, this can be whatever. My gold is in the conditioning stage anyway so this can be Head and Shoulders, Suave or whatever the hell you want. I like to mix it up and smell them all like I'm shopping for candles. The last one I picked was actually the Garnier Fructis Sleek and Shine in that glossy green bottle just because I was craving that ultra-saturated, apple-y explosion scent that reminds me of shopping at the Limited Too in 1999. Just clean my scalp and hair, I've stopped being bougie about it.

Conditioner - After rinsing the shampoo out, I splash Loreal Elvive 8-second Wonder Water on the middles and ends of my hair and comb through smooth. This is a lamellar rinse damage eraser miracle. I leave it on for as long as it takes to wash my face and then rinse it out. Then I follow that up with the Loreal Elvive Total Repair Five Damage Erasing balm, the thick one that comes in the jar (not the squeezy bottle one) and apply it all over my hair except the top of my head and comb through real good with a wide-tooth comb. Leave that in until I'm ready to get out. I notice after every use, my strand breakage and broken/split ends are greatly reduced after using these conditioners.

This leaves my hair pretty soft without having to add any extra potions to it. I wrap my head in a big towel to sop it up and then let it air dry until I'm ready to deal with it. I rub some oil in then I blast it smooth with my Revlon Hot Air Brush. The only reason I have long hair is because of this device. Otherwise it will not, absolutely not happen. I would look like the Dilbert lady. Drying and sectioning and styling my long hair properly took minimum 1 hour. With the dryer brush it takes maybe 15-20 minutes. Life changer. I just brush it like normal and twist and roll it wherever I want more body.

From here I smooth on a little of that delicious OI Oil, twist my hair into a loose knot and pin my bang to create a 40's wave when unraveled and call it a day. If I need some more control on the curl or direction of a wave, or I want to prevent frizz poking up around my head I rub a dot of Suavecita on my palms and gently lightly apply it. I still have the same jar I got when Ricky's was still around. This is an incredible water soluble clear/pink (but goes on clear) pomade that can really be the icing on the cake for styled hair. Too much and it becomes heavy so you have to feel this one out.

What are you guys loving to use right now?
