hello soapstone fandom,
apparently in the last update i said the new album is coming along well. that was a lie. i guess it could be coming along worse but i haven't actually recorded anything for it in like months. i have got most of the tracks for it planned though:
- (probably) the first track is preeeetty recorded, although im not entirely sure i like how it sounds, and if i record more parts of it and still dont like it i might start over. still, the structure of the song is pretty solid
- the last (kind of, in a way, sort of) track has like one 30 second long demo from months ago thats just layers of bass playing high and fl keys (cringe studio instrrument!!). none of that will be in the final song, however i think i pretty much know exactly what i need to record and the structure of the song
- other song i think i recorded a short demo for? i've done a verse and a chorus, although the verse has like 3 different variations and i dunno if ill just stick to one or try and get them all into the song. ive got the chords down, they're pretty wacky chords. i've got the melody for the verse and chorus too. i'm pretty proud of this one
- i wanna make a cute little semi instrumental thing but i don't have much for that aside from the concept
i don't know if i said but i actually also lied when i said it was an album. i only call it an album because i worry that that sounds too prententious but its actually a double ep. also i'm trying and by trying i mean determined not to use any software instruments, although i'll still use software mixing effect stuff because like what am i gonna do, mix everything with the effects on my weird 90s multi-effect guitar pedal? it's tempting. it started as a fun challenge and i was gonna go back to vsts for my next project but now i'm not so sure, now real instruments are all i know. that's why i said fl keys was cringe earlier.
oh yeah also my computer with my DAW and stuff kind of broke a bit. i have everything backed up, and it still works but it'll randomly freeze or at least get really slow for periods of time. not even like how when something doesn't respond, it completely seizes up, from anywhere from like 20 seconds to 5 minutes. i had to go and rerender something old a few days ago because i only ever rendered it as mp3 (lossy, gross!) and it's literally like 2 minutes of 4 snes soundfonts with barely any mixing or effects and it took like 15 minutes. ive been too lazy to actually like dedicate a day to trying to fix it, i should probably just reset it because i have everything backed up and that'll probably work if its a software issue. oh well!
here's a picture of one of those funny chords. it's like E but if the joker played it
