Haiiii helloooo hiiii :3c I'm back with more Notebound Overture postsss^__^ this one is just about. The world. As we have it so far. A lot of it isn't too flesh out yet cause we tend to focus on the characters but whatever!! Theres some cool little fun facts!!
BEFORE I START GOING ON, here's some quick Vocab for the newbies:
Genre - A humanoid species responsible for the spread of creativity. Each Genre is responsible for a type of art (Horror films, Dystopian novels, Jazz music, Expressionist art, etc.)
Overseer - The four immortal Genres who watch over not only the Genres, but the world. They are hundreds of years old and responsible for the advancement of many art forms and even civilization as a whole(mostly Sinclair sorry)/j
OKAY
All genres are allowed to come live in the "Plaza", which consists of the music, art, book, and film buildings. The Art, Film, and Book buildings have actually been renovated to be one big building! This means that the musics building looks a lot older than the other. This separation is due to the Musics Overseer, Sinclair, who is quite. Strict. About how genres are supposed to act and who they're supposed to talk to and such.
There is no rhyme or reason as to why or how a genre is born. You could have two human parents and they could still turn out with a child with paint for blood or a strange affinity for lighting techniques. While these children aren't required to stay at the plaza, they do have to take specific courses in school such as certain art classes and Genre-specific history classes. As far as I know there are no Genre specific schools, which has its pros and cons. Genres can be quite. Disruptive. And kids can be quite cruel
When Genres grow up they are encouraged to change their surname to their genre (ex. Felix Porter -> Felix E. Swing) but it is not required. Genres still hold a lot of independence regarding their living situation, but there are some things that they are required to do. Like showcase their work to the Overseers. This is meant for their own safety, and for the Genres reputation according to Sinclair. They are also required to attend a large gathering once a year. It's basically a big party for Genres to socialize and plan collaborations and inspire each other.
Humans also aren't allowed to live in the Plaza unless authorized under special circumstances(marriage, adoption, etc.) Captain however, the security for the Plaza, is allowed to live in the Security office; a tiny little building with a desk, fold-out couch, and little itty bitty holding cell. They're a special case I think considering that they're the child of two Genres (Chaplin; Silent Films, and Marissa; Horror Novels)
Thats all I'm gonna write about the world FOR NOW. There will be more. Soon. I might do character profiles^__^ one a day similar to my Bryan Scary songs. I will have to speak to my BESTIE AND COCREATOR MEMBRACELET GO FRIEND IT RIGHT NOWWW!!!!/J buh bye :-]
