Thoughts on Chaos Island in Sonic Frontiers (spoiler-free)

Sonic Frontiers really shows just how much Sonic Team can do with more resources and time. Though, I feel like it would have been a real 10/10 if they had been given just a little more of both.

As soon as Chaos Island, I can feel a slight drop in quality. Still having fun, don't get me wrong, but there is a HUGE increase in 2D sections & a majority of the treasure icons you find being bounce pads rather than medals & the like... Man.

What saves Chaos Island is DEFINITELY the writing for Tails & Sonic. More than ever before I'm feeling their brotherly bond and MAN does it hit when they talk about the past. Some people have said this game throws in too much fanservice, but I disagree. This was needed after the past... 12 years or so. Mostly because this is fanservice implemented well, rather than the mess that was bringing back old antagonists for Sonic Forces.

No spoilers please, as I'm still on Chaos Island :) Just wanted to get my thoughts out right now.
