Hello Dear Reader,
I recently came to this website in order to detox myself from modern social media, it's really refreshing to see a community built around the older ideas of social media before they were ruined by ads, algorithms, and rage-clicks. However, I was not quite prepared to see how many SpaceHey users where struggling with various mental health problems, more specifically depression. I notice this with a lot of the younger users and I wanted to make this post just to put in my honest opinion and 2 cents on the world.
I used to struggle significantly with depression and bullying in High school, my sense of self worth was in the toilet and I felt that I had nothing to contriubte and that I had no future. At one point I had many solid suicide plans. However to put things in short: life can improve and that the most important thing to always have is DO NOT GIVE UP HOPE. I'm sure that hearing these words won't feel very helpful or productive coming from a complete stranger online, hell it probably doesn't feel helpful even when someone fairly close to you in real life says it, but I truly mean it: things can improve and you must do your best to keep hanging onto hope. Learn that you are unique and that your life has value and nobody has the right to take that away from you but yourself and that's why you need to give yourself a chance and do not give up.
