another venue gone

RIP Brighton Bar...

Sucks that another awesome venue is gone. And I mean GONE, as it the building was demolished last night into this morning. They closed up last year, and we all hoped for someone to buy/re-open it. But no such luck. 

Many memories came flooding back when I first went to Brighton Bar in 1993 to see TM Stevens perform. Cut to 2012, and I got to play there with TM! I played there a few more times, one more show with TM, as well as a handful of gigs with my band. Always felt welcomed and accepted, was never treated like pariah. Greg Macolino made everyone feel special. Even after the lockdowns were lifted, and bands were allowed to play again, I would drive the 90 minutes to show support. Greg asked me back in 2020 "So will you play here again?" And at that time, I was in my "I don't play live anymore" moment.
