The Carousel - The Greatest Attraction

DON'T USUALLY WRITE BLOGS BUT GUESS I'LL TRY AND START ONE

The Carousel (by Nocturnus (me))is a small music project that I've been working on for a "good while" (procrastination and 8-hour workshifts makes working on it a bit hard) that's based on carnivals and grand events in them. It (currently) has 6 tracks in it and is mainly a breakcore project because breakcore is pretty gnarly.

Currently, the song "The Greatest Attraction" is the only one of this... album/EP/thing that is currently available. The story for this is that the performers conduct what they call "The Greatest Attraction in the Carousel", doing unbelievable things that has convinced many of the audience members to "join in the fun". The Carousel is constantly looking for "new performers to hire", and many while watching The Greatest Attraction were already eager to sign up.

I had the song idea in my head since middle school, inspired by Lauren Bousfield and her early works as Nero's Day at Disneyland. I had listened to the album Attention Shoppers many times back then and I wanted to try and replicate her more experimentally-punky and carnival-like side of her music while also having her chaotic nature of sporadic breakbeats and oscillating glitchy tones in her later NDAD releases. It was in my head for a pretty long time as I didn't have the experienced or know-how of getting the song to where it is. I also didn't have LMMS (my current DAW) at the time and only used SoundTrap (a subscription-based online DAW) for my... earlier experiments into music making (they are now private in my Bandcamp but you can find them on my Youtube channel if you're interested).

That's really the end of this blog entry. Don't know if I'll make more of these (or come back to this site) but, it was fun and refreshing to write something about something that I made! So, uh... stay safe, drink water, and have fun with the music you love.
