The ice age! (and its creatures)

ICE AGE.

It's kinda badass.

Too many people overlook it and go straight to dinosaurs, so I'ma introduce yall to the most iconic ice age beasts and maybe let you know which animal is the COOLEST AND STRONGEST in the end of this blog. Enjoy.

 Megaloceros

Just a deer honestly, this lil' dumbass most likely went extinct because of its large large antlers, it practically was detrimental to it.

let me elaborate on this idea abit more, so naturally deer use their antlers for protection and fighting, and because of this they break, of course. So imagine a pretty decent sized deer with MASSIVE antlers, and one of them falls off, its neck will literally snap! or completely ruin its chances of keeping stable, plainly it'll just fall over and be unable to do anything

To go along side this, deer survive by fleeing, and hiding, defense is their last resort, so to make a quick escape into dense forests wasn't even an option because of their large build! So in my opinion this isn't the best ice age animal, but worth talking about.

moving on to my least liked beast we have the Chalicothere It's a weird lookin' fella I'll tell you that

funny enough, this giant sloth..giraffe ..looking thing is actually family with rhinoceros and horses! (I still don't believe it) and even weirder, this same species practically split into two looking COMPLETELY different, but still being the same species, its difficult to explain so I will link this awesome youtube video check it out, its radical.

It would be shameful to not mention this bird fella so here it is the terror bird(s)!

This bird was probably the closest dinosaur relative at the time and honestly just like dinosaurs did, this animal was thriving!

well until other mammals learned to defend against them, but genuinely these birds were huge! and they were fast as hell, with powerful beaks out of all the animals on this list, this is the one that id like to encounter the LEAST, scary vibes man..

Next up is the Glyptodon!

I like to think of it as the early age Capybara, they just look so goofy and chill though their looks may be deceiving these guys had a goddamn club on their tails! what in the medieval knight!! honestly just a knock-off Ankylosaurus, but I wont shame it. Their thick armor was super effective against the previously mentioned terror birds, as no matter how strong their beaks were, they could not shatter that armor. +20 respect to Glyptodons

before i move on with the list, I'd like to do some honourable mentions:

  • The Dire wolf! One of the strongest wolf species of all time
  • Woolly Rhinoceros!
  •  and the Saber-tooth tiger!

they were truly terrifying and iconic beasts, but there's not much to say about these animals as they are quite similar to their current representatives, except for the Saber-tooth, I mean, we all know the difference, extremely bulky shoulders. Jk the fangs!!!

Mammoths ! (man i love Manny.)

Funny thing about these pals, people make them out to be incredibly huge and terrifying but they genuinely were the same size as modern African elephants! most people fail to notice that these siblings of the elephant actually had tiny ears! well..tiny compared to today's standards.. this was purely to maintain warmth and not have cold ears teehee.

Last on the list we have the cave bear!

honestly, this animal didn't have that many differences only that it was MASSIVE and just plainly over powered, bears even in this day are extremely successful and honestly, even if its pretty boring to admit, but this animal was the strongest of all in the ice age. just a plain ol' bear

If you've finished reading to the very end, I thank you greatly, these blogs bring me joy and genuinely are a great way for me to learn more about nature and pursue my dreams of living amongst nature and wild life

I do hope these blogs bring at least one person joy or introduce anyone to the wonders of nature, I'm extremely grateful to anyone that indulges in this, I mean it!

Funny enough, cave bears are probably the only species that went extinct NOT because of humans! The only real beast that could stand side by side us and thrive
