Tighten Your Grasp - The Beginning

The rain beat against wall rhythmically, whispering kindness to the ears of those dwelling inside.

“My time is coming.” A hoarse voice called, old and withered by time.

Their companion laid out their plastic palm to the old-timer. “I understand, do you want me to play the song while you rest?”

They responded with nothing but a warm smile.

Small chimes of a tune clicked and flowed. Whisking the old human into slumber, but before they shut their eyes they asked, “Do not forget me, or the others that came before me.”

The companion took a few seconds before responding, “I promise. Now, you need your rest.”

As the human shut their eyes for the final time, their companion held their wrinkly hand until it ran cold.

The song ended, and with a somber whirl. Their companion said goodbye, “You were a great partner, you will continue to shine in my memories. Even after you and I leave.”

The companion left the aching old home to be consumed by the vegetations their partner so loved.

And even after centuries of growth, you can still hear the music still echo in the very fiber of that old house.
