Naruto the Movie 2: Legend of the Stone of Gelel (REVIEW)

--WARNING: THIS OBVIOUSLY CONTAINS SPOILERS--

Back again with my series of Naruto movie reviews.

I actually watched this one on the same night I watched Blood Prison because I guess I hadn't gotten enough Naruto for one day. I was thoroughly impressed with Gelel to be honest, more than I had expected. The pacing was well done, and the animation was fluid, expressive, and funny. There were some scenes that were colored so tastefully that I wondered if I was really watching Naruto.

Take this screenshot for example:

Crazy colors with crazy contrasts, really interesting on the black background. How the fuck is this a Naruto movie? It's somehow even better than the first Naruto movie, which used to be my favorite one in the franchise. Once movies started being released in the Shippuden era there is a noticeable drop in quality.

The animation was so chock full of well animated expressions that i even got to add about 20 pictures to my folder of Naruto screenshots.

I also loved the information we got about some of the Indigenous peoples of the Naruto world, the nomads that Naruto encountered were interesting and weren't given bad stereotypes that media tend to give to nomads (such as the Romani people). Loved it.

And last but not least, there was some fucking AWESOME Sakura content in this movie, which I am always happy about.

8/10 cup noodles. a true gem in an otherwise less than mediocre franchise of movies.
