fahrenheit 451- a review (SPOILERS!!!!!!!!)

this book...

so, i have to admit, i enjoyed reading it and feeling the emotions of the characters. this however doesnt mean that i think it was absolutely perfect, because it was not.

PART I

basically this fireman, guy, makes fire because ooo dystopia and ooo firemen dont put out the fires anymore but they burn books wow so edgy

he meets the epitome of the manic pixie dream girl trope, clarisse whom he starts walking with to work. shes 17 and is soooo not like other girlies because she likes talking to people and being in nature instead of driving fast cars and being surrounded by tvs and stuff

one time, clarisse tells montag about the past of firemen and how they used to put out the fire and not make it and they started talking about books and this woke guy up, making him think "wow dude i shouldnt be burning books".

after clarisse dies, guy starts stealing books and reading them without his wife knowing

one day he calls in sick from work and his boss comes to visit. captain beatty (the best character in the whole book) basically tells him that books are bad and that literally everything else is good(ex avid reader btw) and thats the end of part one

this part was super boring, especially the first 60 pages. they were so hard to get through but then i got hooked with the beginning of...

PART II... holy shit

guy tells his wife about the book stealing things and she gets upset and stuff

then his wifes friends come over to have a good time yknow?? but guy absolutely wrecks that by making one of the friends cry and kicks her, basically telling her "you neglect your kids, your 3rd husband will likely kill himself, youve also had 12 abortions FUCKING GO HOME YOU STUPID BITCH" so all the friends leave

he also meets this professor that is apparently so relevant so remember faber for now

guy meets faber and tells him he stole the bible or something and that he will change the world. faber is hesitant at first but decides to side with him because cmon... a fireman that hates firemen?? thats new

that night he goes to work and gives the captain a book or something and him and his coworkers sit down for poker when the alarm goes off. beatty checks the ticket thing and doesnt really care yknow??? so the firemen take their beautiful salamander car and theyre on their way!!!!!!

this part was so good holy macaroniiii

i absolutely devoured this part and was at the edge of my seat all throughout it

in this part i also realized how well beatty has his way with words, persuading guy during the poker match and bringing him back to his book burning senses, basically influnecing him in a way.

this however, does not beat...

PART III.

we are slowly inching towards the end of the book and we still going so strong. the salamander finds its way to guys house and stops there. what??? this has to be a mistake, right?? theres no way someone tattled on him, right??? this is where youd be wrong. see, his wife knew about the book stealing and was seriously against it, so she was the one sending the alarm from earlier.

back to right now, guy is so hesitant and nervous, he has to burn his house down. beatty basically tells him to go for it and this is where his villainy starts to show and oh my god bro.

guy enters the house and... he likes burning again. the persuasion from earlier at the poker match is having its effect on him. hes just mindlessly burning, not sure what, but burning nonetheless. when hes done, he leaves the house and finds all the books he stole in front of him. he has to burn those too but then he realizes what hes done.

so he stands up for his belief but gets a painful punch from his boss, eagerly wanting for his subordinate to just create the pyramid of flames. so he does just that.

after the books were set aflame, guy and beatty start fighting again. beatty tells him to just set his boss on fire, so guy absolutely sets his boss on fire(this part made me so upset holy smokes)

so beatty dies and guy fights his other coworkers and some cyber dog and then runs to fabers house.

he has a glass of whiskey there and basically takes some of his fabers clothes so he wont be detected and killed by the cyber dog. he ends up in a river on which he changes his clothes

after that, he meets some people that memorize books for a living and sticks with them

THE END

part 3 was amazing, i loved the thrill, but it just turned a little awkward at the end

overall, with all of its flaws, this book was really good

solid 8.5/10
