Current thoughts on the Fall 2022 Anime Season

With me picking up Bocchi the Rock!, I feel that I need to talk about my thoughts on the Fall 2022 anime season.

2022 is a fantastic year for pink-haired anime girls

The Spring 2022 anime season had lots of anime with pink-haired anime girls. There’s Spy x Family, Kaguya-Sama Season 3, Shikimori-san, and RPG Real Estate just to name some. And then Fall 2022 comes with even more pink-haired anime girls with anime like Chainsaw Man and Bocchi the Rock! Another year notable for pink-haired anime girls was 2011 with characters like Madoka Kaname, Yuno Gasai, Aria Kanzaki, Akari Akaza, Tomoka Minato, and Hinata Hakamada. For blonde-haired anime girls, no particular year stands out, as there are lots of anime with blonde main characters and blonde side characters. However, if I had to pick a year for blonde anime girls, it would be 2015.

The most popular anime of 2022 isn’t Spy x Family

In Spring 2022, Spy x Family was the biggest anime of the season. But in Fall 2022, Chainsaw Man stole that title. Now Spy x Family feels like the second or third or fourth or fifth biggest anime of the season with lots of other anime competing to be the second most popular anime of the season. In Summer 2022, I miss Spy x Family. In Fall 2022, I miss Spy x Family being the most popular new anime.

Thoughts on Mob Psycho 100 III English Dub

I haven’t watched the dub of Mob Psycho 100 III yet, but I can already tell that it’s going to be a little disappointing. The drama surrounding this dub appears to have somewhat cooled down. Right now, I’d say that it’s less intense than the disappointment felt with The Devil is a Part-Timer Season 2. If I ever decide to watch Mob Psycho 100 III, I still might watch it dubbed.

Thoughts on Bocchi the Rock!

Bocchi the Rock is a lesser-known anime from the Fall 2022 anime season, but it will be remembered for being one of the anime that made this season legendary. Right now, it is the second-highest-scoring CGDCT anime according to MyAnimeList, only behind Yuru Camp Season 2. I’ve watched lots of similar anime before like Hinako Note, Blend S, Comic Girls, Hitoribocchi, and After-School Dice Club, but it looks like Bocchi the Rock is already becoming an essential anime to watch not just for CGDCT fans, but most anime fans, especially comedy fans.
