Director's Cut

In which I go over the stuff that didn't make it into (certain parts of) the Interests table, but is still probably worth mentioning because uhhhhhhhhh why not. Mainly just a tunes list that I'll update as I listen to more neat stuff. It's kinda long; something for which I'm sorry in advance.

Music

As stated in its advance note, the Music tab accounts for whatever I've got playing frequently / on a daily basis. What it doesn't fully account for is ≈241 gigabytes of music (and the occasional liner notes, booklets, etc). ^1 The first math rock album I properly listened to. Everything afterwards didn't hit quite the same note. Just caught me at the right time, I guess(?).
^2 Taken far too early from us. Discovering Walk Among the Cobras in the dregs of YT years ago was an interesting experience; discovering the rest of his discography was downright enjoyable.
^3 Some would argue that Fagen could easily be added side-by-side with Steely Dan on the table, but ehh. Technicality.
^4 Life-changer. Destroyer of musical preconceptions. Bringer of many euphorias. Playing LYSF and F♯A♯∞ at the age of 13 was like listening to a double rainbow.
^5 Marlene continues to emotionally destroy me every time I get to it. A spirit as tender and sensitive as Frank's never deserved such despair.
^6 I keep this one around for sentimental reasons; it's the album that started me on the path of more intricate indie and experimental listening.
^7 I WAS THERE WHEN THIS SHIT ACTUALLY GOT REMASTERED AND I STILL CAN'T BELIEVE IT EXISTS
^8 Prayer to God really spoke to a certain mid-teens angst. Big ups to ya, Albini.

Vidya

The table includes vidya that 1. I'm either playing at the moment or 2. I've already played but absolutely adored. A handful didn't make the cut for, uh, reasons.

  • Metal Gear Solid V
Although the core game and its storyline both rock (very subjectively speaking; it's not lost on me why some people disliked the open-world format and some of the annoyances that came with it), the FOB/online-only late-game sorta killed my vibe more often than not. Not to say that it completely ruined the experience, but it does leave a sour taste the further you get into it.
  • Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen
Post-Dragon Everfall was... not particularly enjoyable. Bitterblack being a ballbust wasn't surprising - the game practically yells out the fact that it's end-endgame content - but trying to figure the Chambers out and chipping away at the Wakestone grind was eugh. ALSO WHY IS INTO FREE NOT IN THE BASE GAME!!!!
  • BallisticNG
I adore this game's aesthetic, soundtrack, vibes, everything - but goddamn I was not made for hovercar driving.
  • Cry of Fear
Upside: Considerably poignant experience with an irreplicable (and almost nostalgic, at times) atmosphere and impressive pacing. Downside: Shat myself too many times to be comfortable with adding it to the table.
  • DEFCON
Whoa, this looks like a neat piece! [half an hour later] Wow! A void has manifested in my heart!
  • Sable
Comfort-inducing, awe-inspiring, made me smile a bunch and even tear up on two seperate occasions, all with a handful of great tracks done by Japanese Breakfast. Issue: haven't played it through to completion. Out of good conscience, etc.
  • VVVVVV
Insanely bopping OST with a simple, but well-executed core idea. I hate its guts.

Heroes

This one's just to reeeeaaaally emphasize the table entry.

Quasi-BYF

These are technically just notes that 1. I couldn't be assed to put under the about-me as I don't wanna clog the blurbs up too much and/or 2. they sorta speak for themselves.

  • I've no intention of ever adding / accepting reqs from users whose dominant activity is promoting their works / music on others' comment threads. My presence here is for the sake of shooting the breeze, making a couple of buds, and (ideally) giving passers-by something nice to stare at - not to give you a platform. The same no-add principle applies to people with friend counts that defy understanding. I don't want to be a measly +1 to your list. S'just not cool, man.
  • Actively trying to keep my friend count around 20~40 or thereabouts, though ideally at a nice and round 30. If I add you (or vice versa) and then 'disappear' in the next few days, or weeks, or whatever, it's most likely because I haven't interacted with you enough to... well, actually consider you a friend, I guess. (Plus, y'know, the round-30 thing.) As stated in the about-me; these decisions are never out of malice, or contempt, or whatever other negative emotion you can come up with.
  • I love getting random comments; something exemplified by Fawkes' occasional apropos-of-nothing questions. To that end, I encourage asking whatever y'feel like asking upon seeing my page or this side note of a blogpost.
  • The readability of my page is something I consider very important. It's something I've already stated on the page, but to emphasize; if you've had difficulty reading or visually registering anything, feel free to message me whenever and nag me about it.
