Random Blog Post for 10/31/2022

Here are a bunch of random thoughts I had on October 31, all anime-related. I talk about Mob Psycho 100 III, Bocchi the Rock!, my weird anime-watching habit and a solution for that habit, witches in anime, and an autograph from a celebrity.

I don’t want to watch Mob Psycho 100 III

I’m positive that Mob Psycho 100 III is one of the best anime of the season, and that I need to watch it. But, a part of me doesn’t want to watch it. The first reason why is that it is one of the less appealing anime I’ve watched. I’m not saying that unappealing anime are bad. I’m saying that they’re not my type of anime, but I still watch them for their importance. Plus, it seems like every season of Mob Psycho 100 airs on a loaded season. The second reason why has to do with the controversy surrounding the dub.

I want to watch Bocchi the Rock!

As I said, every season of Mob Psycho 100 airs on a loaded season, and each season that Mob Psycho 100 aired on has a memorable CGDCT anime. For Summer 2016, it was New Game! For Winter 2019, it was Wataten! For Fall 2022, it’s likely going to be Bocchi the Rock! I heard nothing but good things about Bocchi the Rock! A few accounts I follow on Twitter and the anime subreddit love it. It’s got colorful hairstyles and funny reaction faces, and the main character has social anxiety like Hitori Bocchi from Hitoribocchi and Mya-nee from Wataten! If I decide to watch Bocchi the Rock!, this will be my second Fall 2022 anime.

A weird solution to a weird problem I have with watching anime

We all know that anime database websites are awesome. They’re used to keep track of what anime people have watched. If used long enough, it can also help users remember what anime they watched years ago. But, here’s the problem. There are some people like me who watch 40% of an anime episode one day, wait 3 days and then watch 20% of that same episode, and then finish it the day after. Anime websites have no way of tracking what percent of an anime episode you watch. It’s either 0% or 100%.

One thing I did was make a schedule in Excel, where I can also track what percentage of an episode I watched. However, editing that schedule is very hard on mobile. Then one night, I found out that I could use Notion to time track the anime I watch on a mobile device. Even with that said, I’ll still primarily use my schedule in Excel, as Notion is kind of like an intermediate step.

Three lesser-known witch anime to watch for Halloween

Last year, I made a list of three lesser-known anime that people should be watching if they love anime witches, and I still recommend reading it. These three anime are Majimoji Rurumo, YamiBo, and World End. Comically oversized witch hats have become more popular in 2022 thanks to Ranni the Witch from Elden Ring. RPG Real Estate also had a witch, but I’d only recommend it to the most hardcore CGDCT fans.

I got Wendee Lee’s Autograph

I went to a convention, even though it was a 2-and-a-half-hour drive to get there. I wanted to attend my second anime convention, and it just so happens to be the convention where Wendee Lee made a guest appearance. I had to get her autograph, and her line was the longest of all the guests appearing. She voiced Faye Valentine from Cowboy Bebop, Haruhi Suzumiya from The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, and Konata Izumi from Lucky Star. Here’s her autograph on a picture of Konata.
