squid of the day: sharpear enope squid

the sharpear enope squid is one of the most gorgeous squids out there, living at a depth of 200-1000m. they're pretty decently sized too, measuring at around a foot at adult length. their photophors give off the illusion of polka dots, and they have bioluminescent eyes! they also have clusters of photophores on the tips of their arms, giving them an almost rainbow-like appearance when moving through the water.
